AMAZING SOUTHEAST ASIA – MY BIG ADVENTURE
Long before I disembarked the airplane at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok in November 2018, the travel bug had already sunk its teeth into me. Growing up surrounded by wheat fields in rural Kansas, it was almost impossible not to dream of embarking on extraordinary adventures in far-flung places. As I reached the end of my college journey, wanderlust had completely taken hold of me.
Fortunately, my first professional job after graduating in 2013 presented me with the opportunity to travel extensively across the country and even to some international destinations. Until then, my ventures had been limited to the Midwest. I found myself jet-setting across the nation, often spending three out of four weeks on the road.
By 2018, a yearning for a new and different kind of adventure had taken root within me. Although I cherished the travel experiences I had during those years, I couldn’t help but daydream about something more fulfilling during those long rides between clients. It became clear to me that I longed for a genuine adventure—one that couldn’t be found within the walls of a generic hotel room after a tiring day in a rental car.
The epiphany struck me while on a flight to a tradeshow in Spokane, Washington. In search of inspiration, I stumbled upon a captivating book titled “Vagabonding: An Uncommon Guide to the Art of Long-Term World Travel” on Amazon. Its title alone caught my attention, but its contents would go on to transform my life forever. Within its pages, I discovered that with the savings from my bonuses and my modest lifestyle, I could embark on an extended journey to extraordinary and awe-inspiring destinations.
After thorough research, I became captivated by the idea of exploring Southeast Asia. Thus, in 2018, I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. Over the course of a year, I experienced moments that would forever remain etched in my memory. This website is dedicated to assisting those who are interested in venturing into this enchanting region of Asia, as well as those seeking to deepen their understanding of its wonders. With its unparalleled cuisine, warm-hearted locals, and breathtaking sights, Southeast Asia unquestionably deserves a spot on everyone’s bucket list.
